Chef’s Jacket?
I heard Rachael Ray say she was a cook, not a chef, and couldn’t wear a Chef’s Jacket.
I’m really curious about the jacket!
You can be whatever you want to be …in your mind… without any formal education, training or experience in that trade or profession.
.
In the real world…not so much.
.
Real Lawyers do have to finish Law school and pass the bar before they can call themselves Lawyers and practice law..
Real Aircraft Mechanics have to finish their courses, pass their exaims and get their licenses before they can fix aircraft.
And so forth.
Real Chefs do have to finish a culinary school, etc.
I have to go to a community college for two years, then I want to get out of this God-forsaken town.
If there are any with a good website, can you please send me a link?
It’s not only that I’m going to try to GO, but I’m doing an assignment at school for it.
Thank you!
Information is below.
are all culinary schools teaching the same things? I know some schools like CIA are top of the line, but is it trully worth going to a well reconized culinary school as apposed to a culinary school that is local but not really what someone would consider top of the line? Thank you!
Really depends on what you will be looking for, for work after school, if you are looking to work in some well known restaurant, you might get the job faster if they recognize the school you went to…other than that, not sure going to a well known place would help, except if you really want to be in a large amount of debt
I have always had a great fascination with the culinary arts and traveling the world. going to be attending college here in the states majoring in french but my grades from high school aren’t as you would say high honors. What does it take to get into a french cooking school? What are some great Cooking Schools?
Grades are not looked at for culinary schools. All you need is a lot of Euros and to be able to speak the language well. Le Cordon Bleu is the most famous.
Im in high school and my school doesn’t have any cooking classes. I have no idea what to take in order to become a chef besides business classes.
Don’t worry about it, most colleges don’t expect all schools to have cooking programs, keep following business classes and languages (Spanish would be best, unless you plan to work as a French Pastry chef, or study there). Other then that look for enrichment or internship programs in the summers, and you it would be best if you can find work at a bakery or restaurant, some schools require experience.
I have several choices on Cooking Schools in Tuscany.
Can anyone comment on their experiences or recommend a site that reviews cooking schools ?
Thank you
Sorry cant help you
want to become a personal chef .i start culinary school in august. are there any requirements?
The only requirement is a business license unless you are hired as an employee and the employer deducts and reports all necessary taxes. As a soul proprietor of a business you’ll be entered into a contract and insurances and taxes are your responsibility.

I am making this dish for culinary school, but I need one or two more ingertenets. As a topping on the fries so far I have salmon and holandaise sauce, but I need one or two more west coast(Vancouver) style ingerents. Any suggestions?
Thanks foodguy, but those are both Mexican not west coast.
What’s the deal? The other people who answered obviously haven’t had salmon and Hollandaise together. It’s a match made in heaven. Good choice!
You might also think about Bearnaise sauce instead of the Hollandaise.
Does dill grow up there? That would be good with the sauce and the salmon. How about one of the artisan cheeses made in your area?
I don’t have much experience in cooking because I never got a chance to cook. I’m only 18 but I do enjoy it very much, and I’m very artistic, maybe leaning towards a pastry chef? But should I go to culinary school even if I haven’t cooked very much? There will probably be a lot of people in the class that have cooked all their life and would laugh at me because I haven’t cooked very much. What should I do?
you are only 18 and you have a lot of time to learn, that is what college is for :] there very well may be people who are already have skill and talent in the arts of cooking but do not be intimidated by that you can learn from them and gain even more experience from it and if it really is something that you would enjoy doing with your life go for it, take a chance, and the best of luck to you – amber
