To a certain degree. ACF (American Culinary Federation) accredited schools have restaurants run by students, so the students get some experience at line cooking. The CIA in Hyde Park, NY has several restaurants run by students, and these restaurants are pretty busy, so the students get some practice with being quick with orders.

But, you’re going to have some students who won’t learn as quickly as others. Its possible you could complete the CIA program and NOT learn how to be quick with orders. For some cooks, this takes awhile to learn, and they would need to learn it through "on-the-job-experience".

The culinary school I went to didn’t give the students much opprotunities to learn to be quick with orders. So, I would say no, in general, Cooking Schools do not teach to be quick with orders. They focus more on the fundamentals of cooking technique and how to run a restaurant.

Cooking schools are designed for people to find an entry level position in a restaurant upon graduation. Line cook jobs are not entry level positions.; whereas prep cook and dishwasher jobs are entry level positions.

I’m 15 and I’m currently in professional high school( normal high school classes with a focus on cooking,we have classes and etc), My aim is to become a chef(obviously) and today im planning my life…

I’m 16 and I’m looking into some colleges/schools to become a Pastry Chef. What would be the best school to go to in terms of getting the best education possible. I want to become a celebrity pastry chef. Its my passion and I love it!!! But, I need to start off by going to the best school/college! Help!!!

Cordon Bleu in Las Vegas Used to have to go to Paris for Le Cordon Bleu so you’re lucky. Saying your trained at Cordon Bleu is like saying you are Harvard educated in the business world. Here http://www.chefs.edu/Las-Vegas. Or you can talk a restaurant like the chinese laundry into hiring you as a dishwasher and work your way up at your own pace. ( sometimes faster than school, sometimes not)

By schools I mean college or University, and on a worldwide ranking (not only in a specific region and or country).

Thank you

Some of the Top Culinary Schools in the country include: the culinary institute of america, johnson and wales university and the french culinary institute.

I’m thinking about going to culinary school but I don’t know which ones are the Top Culinary Schools in California.

Your first jobs out of culinary will be as a line cook at, if you are lucky, $12/hr.
The top culinary schools in California are your local community college.

Of course you could go to a private school and walk out with $60,000 in debt – and still get $12/hr.

I’m looking for the top culinary universities in Canada. I’m not yet ready to be applying, but I’m big on planning early. I know for sure I want a future in the Culinary field, so I am wondering if anyone knows good culinary schools in Canada? I’m looking to own a restaurant, and be the chef as well.
Thanks in advance :)

Check out the art institute of vancouver, liaison college, and the northwest culinary institute (located in vancouver). These are really good culinary schools in canada.
